Serene SundayResist….And See….

“And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.” Psalm 90:17

Uncertainty. Unkindness. Unrest. Uproar. Upheaval.

Division.

There’s more and more stories in our daily news revealing the great divisions in worldviews. In our day of 24-hour news there’s a constant drip of negativity…and it’s difficult NOT to be drawn in or to have it become a part of our conversation or of our thoughts throughout the day.

As Christians…I’d say – Resist.

Don’t let this become a part of your daily mindset or perception or vision.

God is still God and He is on His throne.

And we…well, we have purpose and joy beyond what others can comprehend.

There’s really nothing new – conflicts of thought have raged over generations. It’s just brought to our doorsteps each day – all day long.

Resist allowing this to become a part of your thought processes. Don’t let it get you down. Instead of seeing what the world is seeing…step back. Observe…and see God.

Do you see God in everything in your life?

In the Morning, when I rise – let me see Jesus…

I hope I never get over the wonder and the joy of a new day dawning…the subtle changes in how it looks from season to season. But, there’s a certainty in that – the night will pass and the day will dawn revealing new opportunities and new possibilities. To do what?

Find joy in the LORD. Find opportunity to show love, kindness and compassion. Find opportunity to be thankful.

Verse one of Psalm 90 – says, ‘LORD, thou has been our dwelling place in all generations.’

This Psalm is said to be the oldest as it is attributed to being written by Moses…Can you imagine all that he saw in his day. How that he doubted himself and the people whom he loved…how that he understood man’s transgressions and God’s righteousness…and yet, He saw first hand God’s redemption, God’s lovingkindness to show us that…

God is our refuge.

Then – the chapter goes on honestly to give an overview of the constant rebellion of the people of Israel. Yet, like a shepherd, God would pursue them, carry them and lead them. God is always faithful toward us all who are called His Children.

Nothing really new…just the noise of the world is getting louder and louder demanding our attention.

Resist.

Don’t let this consume your own heart and mind. In the midst of all the discontentment, hatred, clamor around you…turn your focus on God.

And See….

Truly all those that are so discontented and angry – are blinded and can’t see the most important things in this world.

People can talk about kindness – but, you can only truly know the depth of it through God and demonstrate it. Especially, when you’re directly being opposed…

What God would say is reveal me to them.

Show them the kindness of the LORD.

See God in everything…and allow Him to shine like a light through you.

The LORD is my light and my salvation: whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. Though a host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. One thing have I desired of the LORD, that I will seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple. For i the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret place of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD. Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me. When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Th face, LORD, will I seek. Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou has been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation. When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up. Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies. Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty. I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.” Psalm 27

Do you have a confident trust in God? Do you see Him in everything. Resist allowing the weight of the negativity of the world consume your heart and mind. Seek God and see…see His love and goodness toward you…then….go out and show it to others.
