Copycat Challenge

Pinterest Inspired

I participated in the last one and did a multiple copycat. I was changing the decor in the kitchen, and was inspired to do this

The transformation inspirations were from:
1. Chalk Board – Courtney at French Country Cottage 2. Candelabra – Sissy’s Shabby Chic 3. Gessoed Terra Cotta wine container – Villabarnes and Mod Podge method with graphics – Graphics Fairy 4. Desk facelift – Miss Mustard Seed  5. Slip cover chair – French Country Cottage

This time I found this as my inspiration from Pinterest. The original photo came from a post on FOLK by Lucy of Craftberry Cottage.

I love the combination of the chippy window frame, the backwards books, the tarnished silver, the LOVE letters and the pink roses.

So, the elements I have to work with are somewhat similar and dissimilar- to begin with I painted our mantel in our bedroom a faux dark wood to match the doors. Also, I did not have a chippy window frame, but I did have a few old picture frames I recently picked up ant an estate sale. Also, I did not have wooden LOVE letters. It didn’t seem a realistic trip to the store – one hour round trip just to get wooden letters – so…I drew some and posted them in the center of the frames.

I have several silver sugar and creamer bowls.

These are my favorite – love the patina.

Along with the silver creamer and sugar dishes, I used three golden goblets given to me by my Mother-in-Law. With vintage books and the silver roses the look began to come together.

Our mantel is not as deep as the inspiration, so I had to get creative in the arrangement of the books and the goblets. Here you get a closer view of my handmade LOVE letters.
That was fun! This post will launch a series of posts to run through February – the theme will be Romance. I just love this time of the year.

  1. I was just putting a book or two on my bookshelves earlier and ‘had’ to turn the pages out b/c of their size and orientation to the shelf. Then, saw your post. I like the books turned now and then. Love your treasures and display. I was scrolling down and one of the books caught my eye, reminded me of the book I turned out “Leaves of Gold”. (Yours is the book under the caption about these are my favorite…).
    Enjoyed my visit.
