John 10:10

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

I love the music of Downhere. They’re latest CD, ‘On The Altar of Love’ contains some fantastic songs with lyrics that are inspired by scripture. Which I think is why listening to the songs, my heart responds with praise and worship. One of these songs is a song of thankful prayer.

For Life

‘For memories on a starlit night North of the Denbigh line, oh Lord / For frosted pines shining like diamonds in the morning sun / For a pretty girl and for falling in love, oh love / For spring ice churning the driftwood shore / For birdsong air and windswept hair / For fiddle head strings, and flower bows // For thunder clouds rolling in a purple evening, / While Aspen leaves play tambourine, / For a soul, a song, and a voice to sing, / Just what I’m thinking // Thank You, God, for the open sky / Mysterious depths of her ocean eyes / Thank You for my dreams, my dreams / A poetry both tragic and beautiful / Thank You for life // For everything revealed to see / For what’s kept in mystery, oh Lord / From the finer things to the shirt on my back / The less I have the less I lack / For passion and all that’s within me / All that’s within me // Behind every wonder I find a clue / Beginning to believe that it’s coming true / I look onto a new rose dawn debut / Because with every breath You make me new / Before I turn it in tonight / Thank You for life //’

I hope you have a blessed day and can see God in everything – and find joy.

  4. Dear Kathy,

Thank you for this lovely post on Sunday – it is openly appreciated by this sister.

I am going to go to Youtube to check out that cute band.

I love the old fashioned picture of them – I am certain I truly don’t belong in this millenium, I always look behind me and prefer a lot of old fashioned ways. Except for blogging and ebay, I would really miss those.

Have a blessed day, my friend.

  5. For anyone who wants to listen to the Official Version with lyrics to this song, I just found it and listened to it.

Kathy, thank you for sharing and showing – it is Praise in Song, indeed, it’s awesome:

    • Thank’s Michele. I just added the video. I intended to put it in this morning, but ran short on time. If you like this search out their song ‘Holy’. The whole CD is terrifc, the lyrics are inspired by scripture. They’re the one’s who sing ‘How Many Kings’.
I hope you have a blessed day,
