Welcome Spring

“It is spring again. The earth is like a child that knows poems by heart.” Ranier Marie Rilke

I love spring anywhere, but if I could choose I would always greet it in a garden.  ~Ruth Stout

And Spring arose on the garden fair,
Like the Spirit of Love felt everywhere;
And each flower and herb on Earth’s dark breast
rose from the dreams of its wintry rest.
~Percy Bysshe Shelley, “The Sensitive Plant”

That God once loved a garden we learn in Holy writ.
And seeing gardens in the Spring I well can credit it.

Helleboros are proving to be one of the best plants for my garden - I'm going to move some to the west side of the house - I've been told they can withstand the early morning shade and hot late day sun.

The first day of spring in our Central Georgia garden began quite cloudy and chilly. On Monday we had severe thunderstorms march through – many had trees downed causing power outages – we fared quite well, although the tin on the carport was loosened and curled toward the house – we did get heavy rain and wind – but not the hail that many did get – so heavy it looked like snow.

spring is here showing it’s marvelous colors – there’s a certain confidence in the rhythm of things -

Winter season is passing – it will linger here and there barely giving way to the cheerfulness of spring, but spring will win over. and as the words to the song, ‘Only the Beginning‘ by Downhere, there’s a surge of hope in our hearts nowing the promised time of spring is here.

‘It’s only beginning it’s true -Just when I thought my time was through -Oh the stirring I feel inside -Is the voice I know I cannot deny -The surge of hope and full acceptance -Freedom deep as the blue -This is only the beginning -Press ahead forget what’s behind, forget what’s behind – And the good work, He is still perfecting ‘

  6. Good Morning, Kathy. Your post is beautiful and so are your spring flowers. We are having a rainy day today for the first day of spring, but it just means that the ‘real’ spring will have more beautiful flowers. I love all your quotes and just want you to know that I didn’t copy you. Good minds just think alike, I guess. Seems like I’ve said that before!..Happy Wednesday..Judy

  8. Kathy,
    I think I need some hellebores……

  9. Oh my! All your flowers look sooo gorgeous!! Glad to hear that the storms didn’t do any real damage to your home or gardens.

I have been waiting for spring’s arrival here in northern Indiana, but she seems to be delayed. Perhaps she’s held up at the airport by all the security checks she has to go through nowadays. LOL! We have snow this morning with temps in the teens, but it’s not supposed to hang around long.

  10. Kathy, everything is so pretty. I love Dogwood trees. I had a bush but it didn’t survive. Really want to try a tree. Can’t wait till my garden is full of blooms! Still in the clean up stage. My Hellebores are coming up nicely.
    hugs,
    Jann

  11. Oh, what a glorious sight to see all those gorgeous blooms, Kathy! I won’t see them for a while yet as winter still has a strangle hold on our Island. Love all the poetry too. Thanks for sharing at my HOME and have a lovely week.

    Easter blessings,
    Sandi
