Adding Vibrant Color

Front Porch Sprucing 10

I swept, but I didn’t rinse off the front porch – you can see traces of the pollen that’s out

After receiving the news that someone was pirating my blog name and whole posts from several of my blogging friends, I needed a break. So, fortunately, I had some grocery shopping to do. I stopped at the mailbox and there was a coupon to one of my favorite garden nurseries – off I went.

I need to add some more color to the hanging basket on the door!

At this nursery, the plants were a feast for the eyes – there were so many colors and varieties – and more to come from what I was told. I LOVE Geraniums, and my attention was drawn to these first.

I was actually looking for a few things, that weren’t there yet, so I looked at what else might catch my attention.

After filling the pots by the door, I added a the Salvia and the Petunais with a different shade of red Geranium to the side with the Adiorndak chairs. I painted the table  and the pot blue last summer. If you look behind the table to the shingles at the bottom of the house wall – Squirrels. They’ve been chewing on the house – trying to create a hole to get under. I don’t think so!

Front Porch Sprucing 2There’s more work to be done to our front porch, we’re going to paint the door and window trims as well as the awnings. They will be a deep burgundy red – can you imagine how dramatic that will be complemented by the brilliant colors of these flowers as they grow! I am looking forward to it – hopefully we can get that done very soon.

Sprucing Front Porch 2I know the tiles to the front  porch are not original – we’d like to make this a wooden porch and to add a pergola across the front. I think that will add charm to this Craftsman home. If you’ve ever checked my Pinterest, you’ll see I have been looking at different forms of pergolas.

Front Porch Sprucing 5I’ve already changed what I put on the table – but I just don’t have a picture to share yet. This birdhouse I painted several years back. My husband and I would travel with the children from our church and act as Sponsors while at a Christian camp – I went to the craft room and found this sweet birdhouse and painted it – a wonderful reminder of that time and something to treasure for our family.

The flowers I used were: Salvia ‘May Night’; Ivy/Zonal Geranium-Calliope Lavender Rose; Ivy/Zonal Geranium Caliente Fire; Spreading Petunia ‘Ramblin Burgundy Chrome’

I hope you have a wonderful day, I am still doing research to how to protect my blog further. I am going to make sure I am educated about all the options before I take a leap – you know the phrase, ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’. That’s what I plan to do.
