One of my greatest delights is to have inherited pieces of furniture or ephemera.

A DELIGHTSOME LIFE Greatgrandpa's chair

From my Mother I received three chairs that belonged to my Great-Grandparents.

I believe this chair was made by my Great-Grandfather.

There is evidence that this chair was hand-made and that the chair cushions had been redone over the years.

The original fabric was a very country – Farmhouse style of checks, leaves and flowers. Quite charming.

The fabric over it was very cottagey – large roses –

this fit quite well for a while in our Masterbedroom decor. Until I changed the decor last year. After I painted the chair, I slipcovered the chair pads with a French Grainsack material I found through Decor Steals.

I replaced this chair with another chair from my Great-Grandfather.

I painted this chair a while back and made this fluffy seat cushion to go with the new Masterbedroom colors.

All of my Great-Grandfather’s chairs were close to the ground.

When I first met my Great-Grandfather – in my mid teens – I adored him.

A DELIGHTSOME LIFE Me and Greatgrandparents

I always remember him with this smile. I also adored how cute and short he was. I am not a tall person – I’m pretty short myself – at 5′ 2 1/2″ tall!

So, I love these chairs for many reasons.

They make me smile – to remember my Great-Grandfather. They’re comfortable to me – made for people of shorter stature!
