I adore all things Beatrix Potter
I love her simple stories, her beautiful illustrations and the story of her life.
This sweet mossy bunny became the first inspiration for this tablescape.
Then as I was doing some sewing, I came across some fabric depicting Beatrix Potter characters. I was smitten.
So I decided to make Beatrix Potter inspired placemats.
Have you ever watched the movie, ‘Miss Potter’? It’s one of my favorites! I love how they have Beatrix interacting with her drawings.
The tablescape’s centerpiece began to be filled with mossy decor.
I found these Moss and Bark baskets at a flower nursery and thought they’d be perfect for such a tablescape.
The fern seemed to be a perfect compliment to the basket and the tablescape’s theme.
I also had a few African Violets that I thought would add the perfect, soft woodland touch.
“There is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. You never quite know where they’ll take you.”
― Beatrix Potter
Isn’t setting a tablescape akin to setting the stage in words for a story – in the case of the tablescape the story is told with the chosen dishes, silverware, tablecloth, placemat, napkins and decor.
I picked up a few wood slices and this little stump when we picked out or Christmas tree…they seem to go perfectly with the theme of this tablescape.
For each place setting, I used burlap chargers, basketweave plates and bowl, an embroidered napkin, silverware and a moss ball…of which I had recently made.
“Once upon a time there were four little Rabbits, and their names were–Flopsy, Mopsy, Cottontail, and Peter. ”
― Beatrix Potter
This Beatrix Potter tablescape is in honor of the beloved author, Beatrix Potter…her sweet and precocious bunny, Peter and all the beautiful whimsy she brought to our world.
