A Return to Loveliness

Summer is here, July is one week away and it’s hot here in Georgia! Dearest and I spent  the first few days working in the garden. I’ve had to do some serious pruning – some of the plants are showing heat stress and others damage from the ice storm last winter. Dearest watched me prune my dear La Marne – he said, ‘you’re not afraid to prune are you!’ I took it down by 1/3 to 1/2 – the rose bush really needed it to survive! Also, some friends shared delicious plums from their garden – now I know where the phrase, ‘plum good’ comes from – we may need to find a spot for a plum tree! I so enjoy seeing your posts and do appreciate you all joining in each week!

  9. Thank you for the feature Kathy- I appreciate it!
Pruning is necessary and sometimes you end up with a better plant because of it. I lost a tree to the hard winter that we replaced on Saturday. My rose had looked to be a total loss. I had finally decided to dig it out and when I went outto remove it I discovered leaves- which seemed to have come out through the night! I did prune it early because it looked so bad. Now I’m waiting to see some roses on it!! Summer is just getting going up here and so far no big heat waves.

  10. Oh! Is that my little grand-girl smiling at me featured this week?? Joy! Thanks so much! I have been so Blogland remiss this past week or so – being otherwise engaged. We just got home yesterday and I’m trying to make sense of the tons of photos I’ve taken. Digital cameras and phone cameras make for a plethora of images to sort through. I do have some loveliness to share, though – and will do so within the next couple of days. Loving your blue and white teatime after gardening . . .
    Joy!
    Kathy
