Going Neutral for Autumn

I had a completely different look when I first started decorating the mantel for autumn. When I was finished, my daughter said she didn’t like it. I sat back on the couch and stared at it for a while. I had to agree with her. The typical autumn colors of orange and red was fighting with the colors and pattern on the wreath.

My Challenge

Self imposed. I began the year using these three wrought iron candlesticks, the wreath and the lady bust. I’d worked around these three items for winter, spring and summer. I liked the original look and wanted to see if I could keep those elements throughout the seasons. Everything worked o.k. until this autumn.

No orange leaves or pumpkins

Since I decided to go a different route, I took several of the pumpkins and changed them over from orange to white. They needed a little help!

Adding various Elements

A Look Back

Autumn Mantels of the Past

Today

I am leaning more to neutrals. So, I used various elements to bring together a beautiful, neutral Autumn mantel decor
