Getting Focused

This morning my thoughts are every where. First of all, I’m not a fan of Daylight Savings. If there’s something that can be changed and I believe many people can come together is…let’s choose a time setting and stick to it!

The clock is on Dearest’s side of the bed, he gets up first as he prepares to go to the gym before going to work. This works out fine. I’m a light sleeper and when he’s up, I’m up. On Sundays, Dearest gets up to finalize his message for church. I’m thinking that he set the clock ahead for Daylight savings. I turn over and see the time. Great! I can turn over and get a few more minutes. WRONG! When I do happily get up and greet Dearest, he’s moving along and says he’s got more to do to be prepared…and it’s 8:30 am! What! I look over at the clock it reads 7:30 am. I was robbed! I have things to do before getting ready and I thought I had plenty of time. That one hour makes a huge difference.

So, after showering, dressing,  making coffee (essential) and breakfast I sit down and so many thoughts are swirling in my head. What I wanted to share this morning flew out the window with that lost hour….

Things just don’t always go the way we planned. Am I going to let that set the tone for the day. NO WAY! I have to take a few moments to gather myself, get things in order and get focused. Life happens, things happen. We do good things and sometimes we make wrong decisions. And sometimes things are not what we thought at all! We can’t let one thing set our day, week, month, year life on a tailspin. We need to refocus. I’m talking to myself right now!

What’s the most important thing this morning…here’s my 6 (do you have that ‘Six Most Important Things to do Today’ notepad?

  • Thank God for another day…this whole day is brand new, it’s barely marred by my late start…even with the rain…there’s a whole lot of potential in this day!
  • Thank God for my family…today I woke to all my family being well…we have some issues – sickness, loss etc…but over all…we’re good and blessed
  • Thank God for my health…even though I stepped on the scale this morning and I’m losing and gaining the same four pounds…anyone explain that? BUT, I’m quite healthy – have been most of my life…thank you, God.
  • Thank God for our home…it’s old, things break, its drafty (I kind of like that – I like a house that breaths) BUT, it is an amazing gift from God…we’re blessed
  • Thank God for purpose…today, we meet with our church family. God has blessed us so richly there with a group of people who deeply love God and who love learning more about Him. And the children are just the dearest!
  • Thank God that He loves me. When you sit and marinate on the thought, the God of creation loves you, you specifically. That before time and creation He knew you and chose to have a relationship with you…WHAT could overcome that? Nothing!

So, even though I woke at first happy, then frazzled by time change. I’m looking forward to this day and the song in my heart and mind is …“Good Good Father”

Oh, I’ve heard a thousand stories of what they think you’re like
But I’ve heard the tender whispers of love in the dead of night
And you tell me that you’re pleased
And that I’m never alone

You’re a Good, Good Father
It’s who you are, it’s who you are, it’s who you are
And I’m loved by you
It’s who I am, it’s who I am, it’s who I am

Oh, and I’ve seen many searching for answers far and wide
But I know we’re all searching
For answers only you provide
‘Cause you know just what we need
Before we say a word

You’re a Good, Good Father
It’s who you are, it’s who you are, it’s who you are
And I’m loved by you
It’s who I am, it’s who I am, it’s who I am

’cause you are perfect in all of your ways
You are perfect in all of your ways
You are perfect in all of your ways to us

You are perfect in all of your ways
You are perfect in all of your ways
You are perfect in all of your ways to us

Oh, it’s love so undeniable
I, I can hardly speak
Peace so unexplainable
I, I can hardly think

As you call me deeper still [3x]
Into love, love, love

[3x:]
You’re a Good, Good Father
It’s who you are, it’s who you are, it’s who you are
And I’m loved by you
It’s who I am, it’s who I am, it’s who I am

You’re a Good, Good Father
(you are perfect in all of your ways)
It’s who you are, it’s who you are, it’s who you are
And I’m loved by you
(you are perfect in all of your ways)
It’s who I am, it’s who I am it’s who I am

Not sure exactly why this song, but it’s a pretty good one…Perhaps He’s trying to tell me just how much he loves me and no matter what…this is going to be a wonderful day when I turn my mind and heart to praise and to thanksgiving. Or, someone needs these words to know and to remind them just how good God is and who we are in Christ and how deep that love is.
