God’s Gifts to Us

“God almighty first planted a garden. And indeed it is the purest of human pleasures.”

Francis Bacon

Life is beautiful. We are greeted each morning with the assurance of a new day in the transformation of the night’s darkened sky by the breaking through of light from the sun.

The world around us awakens with activity and song.

Our every breath is a gift from God.

Each day is a new opportunity to begin again, it is a new, clean slate.

Each of us has the ability to make of that day what we choose. We can be productive. We can be kind. We can be thoughtful. Or we can while away the hours.

Are you familiar with the lyrics from Wizard of Oz?

I could while away the hours, conferrin’ with the flowers
Consultin’ with the rain.
And my head I’d be scratchin’ while
my thoughts were busy hatchin’
If I only had a brain.
I’d unravel every riddle for any individ’le,
In trouble or in pain.
With the thoughts I’d be thinkin’
I could be another Lincoln
If I only had a brain.

We can even find pleasure in our chosen hobbies and activities. I love to take care of my home by creating and making things that will add beauty to our home. I also love spending time in the garden. I learned to love gardening from my Dad. It was his gift to me.

Each day that I spend in the garden I think of him. Then I thank God. I thank him for all the gifts he’s given to me. Life each day. A family to love. Occupation that I enjoy. A beautiful home and garden to tend to. God gives us gifts each day. The most important and amazing gift is that He gives us His love and His presence.

Today, I’m going to enjoy these gifts and be thankful for all God has given to me.

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22,23 ESV

“He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.” Ecclesiastes 3:11 ESV
