Anchor Hocking Storage Jar

Make It Milk GlassI have shared this corner of my kitchen several times – showing the changes in decor throughout the seasons and holidays – this is one thing I always remove while taking pictures – that is before I painted it.

Make it Milkglass 5It was one of those ‘aha!’ moments. I didn’t think a large jar full of granola bars, crackers and cookies would look ‘cute’ in the scheme of the shelf top decor – but that is where it lives – for utility sake.

Make it Milkglass 3Usually you’ll see the far end of the shelf – where the cute, decorative things live and change seasonally. I love this combination of the tray, wine bottle holder, the chicken cookie jar and my new/old scale – love the combination of vintage and french graphics.

Make it Milkglass 2Overall, this is one of my favorite corners in our home  to decorate – yet, I would always remove the Anchor Hocking jar from the shelf before taking the pictures – now, I am happy to give it center stage. The ‘aha’ moment was the thought, “I should make this Milk Glass!” I spray painted in Bright White four or five layers to give it a good coverage and a deep opaque look.

Make It Milkglass 8Then, I visited our dear friend, The Graphics Fairy – I first searched for French Pastry labels. The center of the label ‘Bee Patisserie’ is what I found. I wanted a border, so I used her ‘vintage bracket’. I created an image out of four – resizing the image then flipping the bracket to form four sides and adding them into one image on Pixlr. I then added the ‘Bee Patisserie’ label to complete my label.

Make it Milkglass4I attached my new label, with Mod Podge than once all was dry I sprayed clear Poly over the whole jar to protect the paint and the label. Now, my plain Atlas – once set aside – is a focal point.
