A Sweet Baby Shower for a Girl.
Our little granddaughter will be arriving very, very soon! So, of course my daughter and daughter-in-law and I got together to celebrate with a sweet baby shower for my daughter and her husband. We had so much fun planning, preparing and making decorations for this event. I am so excited to become a grandma and wanted to share our tips and ideas for a sweet baby baby shower.
The theme was very girly and floral to complement the floral decor in the baby’s room. Recently I shared how I transformed a dresser for the room…and a bit more.
The decor was very easy, sweet and colorful! I made large tissue paper flowers as decoration in the dining room. I added some paper lanterns.
These tissue paper flowers are so easy and affordable – they made a big impression! I followed this tutorial. I used paper clips and fishing wire to hang the arrangement.
The Table Setting
For each of the tables I had a simple floral arrangement with lots of Baby’s Breath and pink roses. I set them in vintage vases – that were of course – floral! I used my collection of floral china for the food which we kept simple. It was an early afternoon baby shower.
I made a pink strawberry cake for the shower using large cookie sheets. I made two layers filling the center with butter cream frosting and strawberry jam.
The Mantel Decor
We planned for my daughter to sit next to the fireplace in my husband’s recliner. My sister made this wonderful garland from pink checked blank invitations that already had the holes in them.
I brought from the garden several Spring flowers and flowering branches. I wanted a light, airy arrangement.
The Welcome Chalkboard
Where would we be today without these amazing chalkboards! My Son-in-law made this one and it was the perfect size for the welcome message for our guests.
- Plan ahead – give yourself 4-6 weeks to send out invitations and to plan
- Decide on a Theme
- Keep it simple – the most important part is the celebration
- Make as much of the decor as you can
- You can find budget friendly ideas on Pinterest
- Share in the responsibility – planning, creating and baking
- Keep the agenda for the party simple – allow the guests to enjoy mingling
- Have a game or two – we did a nursery rhyme game
- Realize the opening of the gifts may take some time
Celebrating family events, especially the coming birth of a baby is so wonderful. I knew the joy of becoming a mother, but now, the exquisite joy of becoming a grandmother is so wonderful. Watching my daughter and her husband open the gifts, seeing the sweet outfits and toys…that was the best part. As I looked around the room – seeing all of the happy faces sharing in our joy created a wonderful, wonderful memory. And that is what it is all about. Getting people together to share in the enjoyment of the blessing of a new baby in the family.
