We had such a wonderful mini-vacation in the Georgia Mountains! The weather was just perfect for hikes to the falls, seeing the mountains and walking the paths. There’s something wonderful and relaxing about the stillness of the forest and of the sounds of the rushing waters passing by. We thoroughly enjoyed our time together. Everyone should take a few days now and again to relax and to connect with what matters most. This is a lovely Saturday morning, and before I go outside to do some Fall cleaning, I’m cleaning and rearranging some of my favorite things. White dishes. I LOVE white dishes of all shapes and sizes! We use these daily and I love how they live together on these shelves. I removed the doors some time back so that I could see them. There’s a particular beauty in their simplicity. I’m enjoying taking each one down, setting those aside that need cleaning. I’m changing out the shelf paper. I love this gray and white pattern. I believe it’s adding elegance and beauty to these shelves.

Light. I’m enjoying the fading light and how it’s playing in my house before the daylight ends. This is the remains of the day. This is a quiet moment on a Friday. This was a good week. To me, it went by so fast! I’m not sure I accomplished what I’d hoped to, but I do hope that I thoroughly enjoyed the blessings of each day. I am enjoying beginning the days and ending the days. I’m realizing that I have a lot to be thankful for. I have the assurance of God’s love…I have a very Dear husband whom I’ve come to realize just how much he means to me and that in all ways - we’re better together. I’m thankful for our children and their families. I enjoy watching them in their homes and enjoy seeing them love one another and above all love God. I enjoy my job and the opportunity to Make a difference. I enjoy interacting with people each day. I enjoy the changes in these days…the light, the leaves, the change in the air…and I enjoy hearing the flock of Geese return…they have a pattern that goes over our home. It thrills my heart to hear them. These are very random thoughts…as I watch the light change and think of all the many, many blessings in my life. #light #blessings #thankful #adelightsomelife

Comfort. As the season changes we have more opportunity to find a cozy spot to enjoy a hot cup of coffee. I’ve been drinking mine black lately. A surprise to many! And I love a pretty cup. But what I love no matter what season is comfy and cozy. I love a large pillow I can sink into, a soft, warm blanket to cover me or to complete wrap like a shawl. And a good book. Give me a cozy corner with these things and I am content. I can travel and explore through my imagination into a wonderfully crafted story. Just give me a cozy corner. Why not make it pretty too! I’m a collector! This is what I’d happily say to myself and to others. This gave me excuse and reason to have several of the same item…I would rotate displaying items seasonally and just for fun. But, these things have become overwhelming. Somewhere along the line my collecting became stuffing. I’d forget what I had. I’d get something just to put it away then forget about it all together. My collecting became stuffing. Now I’m working toward changing my collecting to selecting. Those things that I truly LOVE and those things that have real meaning. Without realizing it, my stuffing was symbolic of habitual stuffing in a number of areas in my life. I like clean, I like order…but, my habits were creating an out of order life. This wears on one and we don’t really realize it. Now. I’m going through cabinets, drawers, closets and whew that attic - to select those things that are worth keeping - those things that are worth passing on.

Autumn is barely in the air here in the South. In fact, the Summer has been brutally hot and dry. We’re looking for relief. But, when Autumn’s cooler weather does arrive I like to be prepared with cozy throws and pillows. I like to have a selection of warm drinks and good books. I love Autumn and its beauty. I love the ability to go on long walks and breath in the cool, crisp air... I am ready for Autumn to finally arrive. I’m getting out those pillows and throws... I will share more soon!
