Have you heard of Chalk Couture? If not, that’s o.k., it’s pretty new, but it is also pretty awesome! My sister shared this with me…She’s better than I am at creating signs – she does calligraphy and such, but this – this can have anyone creating beautiful pieces of artwork!
The Delightful Chalk Couture
What is Chalk Couture?'Chalk Couture is a revolutionary concept in décor and crafting that you won't find anywhere else.' You can create your own design masterpiece AND perhaps become a designer yourself!Click To Tweet
With Chalk Couture you use silkscreen transfers with a unique chalk paste – called ‘Chalkology‘. The silkscreen transfers have a sticky backing that holds to the surface. Then you can take your selected Chalkology paste color to apply with a small squeegee. Not much paste is needed. You swipe it across the transfer design, ‘squeegee’ off the excess – put it back in the pot and then remove the transfer! Voila – a new masterpiece – quick, easy and yours! The chalk dries hard on the surface and remains until you clean it away with water. You can make the artwork permanent if you like. You can use products like polyurethane or wax.
In addition to being able to create wonderful artwork with the Chalkology paste there is now also Couture Ink. This is exciting, because this ink can be applied to glass-porcelain (with heat*) or fabric and becomes permanent!
*To make the ink permanent on glass and ceramic it is necessary to ‘bake’ it at 350° for 30 minutes – allow to cool in oven to ‘heat set’ the ink.
Oh, my goodness – the possibilities…There are SO many transfers and so many uses for this amazing craft product!
But, wait…there’s more! Surfaces! Chalk Couture has several surfaces you can get through the company from magnetic chalkboard frames of various sizes to chalkboards to canvas pillow covers, box frames – two sided, canvas totes, and banners! Plus you can use this on items you can find at craft and DIY stores – wood and ceramic…I’m seeing so very many possibilities!
So Easy to Use!
The first time I tried this was on a galvanized bucket…I just couldn’t wait and well it was there…It was so super easy! And pretty!
Here’s an example of one of my first projects:
- reusable silkscreen transfers – various designs
- Chalkology chalk paste – assortment of colors
- Squeegee – various sizes
- Chalk Ink – to use for permanent applications
- Chalk Couture surfaces – magnetic chalkboards, chalkboards, canvas products and more!
