Krystina Castella shares that she and her husband often travel and hike throughout the country. The sustain themselves on dried fruits and nuts as well as camp cooking while on their excursions. But, they have also come to look forward to those small town cafes, truck stops or bakery where you can always find pie. Krystina recounts that no matter where you go from the Northwest to the South, you can find pie specific to that region and more than likely someone who will invite you to try the pie and may call you ‘Hon‘.

We too love pies in my home. When my daughter saw this books she got quite excited. As she thumbed through the pages she became more animated. ‘Mom! You’ve just GOT to make this!’, my daughter repeated over and over. I have a feeling, this book will find its way in her bags one weekend.

She particularly liked the Bento Box individual pies – the Panda just drew her heart.

I made individual custard pies topped with blueberries and strawberries – light, sweet and refreshing – review from my husband.
