Home and Garden Thursday
If you’re coming by to see if Home and Garden Thursday is up – thank you! If you stopped by yesterday and could not access A Delightsome Life…well, what had happened was…
I woke up yesterday morning, as my routine is, prepared to create and schedule Home and Garden Thursday. My routine is to go to InLinkz, look at the links, sort them by clicks and share the top six with you. I couldn’t get any where. I received a message to contact my hosting provider. They had frozen my site stating that my site was ‘abusing CPU usage’. I’m on a shared service as I suppose many of you are. This means that through their servers we ‘share’ access. They sent me an email with the ‘threads’ that caused the problem and wanted ME to fix it. I’ve figured out A LOT over my time blogging, technical things, the hard way. I spent hours that morning trying to figure this out. But, I had to leave it and go to work. I have a plugin that does scans to protect my website from unauthorized log-ins, malware and such. I could ONLY access my account through my IP address – at home. I had to bring my laptop home (took it to work thinking at break time, I could try to address this) but no. I had to address this at home only. I left my laptop home thinking I’d started a scan to search out any Malware that would need immediate attention. When I returned home, I found the scan running – at the same spot. Then I looked again at the host’s message – the scan was automatic and had been stuck in a loop for hours – causing the unnatural CPU usage. I stopped the scan, notified my hosting service and well, here we are. BUT, they suggest that I find another source and wouldn’t you know – they offer a service. I thought, hmmmm…really. I’ve run into situations before where I had to address a ‘problem’ that caused my site to be down. Then finding out there’s a ‘service’ that could mitigate any future situations from occurring again. I’m just a girl, enjoying life, creating and sharing on her blog. I’m trying to make it something more – as I’m sure you all are…but, sometimes I think THE BIG GUYS and BAD GUYS cause us problems. Just a thought. Anyhow, I’ve learned something new, and through this experience will get myself up and keep moving forward. Thank you from the bottom of a very grateful heart for coming by, sharing and visiting at Home and Garden Thursday – the blogging community is wonderful. I’d also like to thank two very helpful, talented bloggers, Kirsten Thompson and Christine Leahy for their help.
