I Remember Mama

A wish for one more visit…

Eleven years ago, my husband came to me early Mother’s Day morning and told me he was taking us to see my mother. Immediately I began to weap tears of joy. My mother had been ill with cancer for months and was bed ridden. She was being cared for at my sister’s at house. I had been living far away and was unable to see her as often as I’d liked. As we drove up my two brothers and two sisters were in the garden – they did not know we were coming. We all gathered hugged and cried for a few moments before we went inside to visit with Mama.

It was a very sweet visit – I was able to show Mother some of my artwork and to share things from my heart. The very next day, my sister called telling me that my mother wasn’t doing well. By the time I returned she had already passed away. I think of her so often – wishing I had one more visit to tell her once more how much I love and appreciate her. I’d love to share the growing up years of my children – how I now understood how wonderful she was….

I know, based on God’s word that one day I will see her again. So this is my dream lunch tablesetting where my Mother my two sisters and I or my two daughters could sit, laugh  and enjoy each other’s company here – one more time.
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. I give thanks to my God upon every remembrance of you. ~Philippians 1:2-3

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor demons, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing can separate us from the love of God that is Christ Jesus our Lord! ~Romans 8:38-39

Who can find a virtuous woman? She is far more precious than jewels…Strength and honor are her clothing, and she can laugh at the time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and loving instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the activities of her household and is never idle. Her sons rise up and call her blessed. He husband also praises her:Many women are capable, but you surpass them all!Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord will be praised.
~Proverbs 31:10, 25-30

Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her~Proverbs 31:28

Titus 2:4-5 … and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled. ~ Titus 2:4-5
