On the First Day of Summer

Summer Picnic Tea basket closeupWe had a perfect first day of summer this weekend. The sky was clear, the temperatures moderate, for the south! I took advantage of this and set a picnic tea neath the dappled shade of the Cypress tree.

Summer Picnic Tea setting quiltI set out a rose covered comforter and brought out the pink picnic basket -actually it was green and I painted it a while back. Out came the floral covered covered dishes to protect the picnic fare – and for comfort and entertainment – Dearests vintage radio and lots of pillows.

Summer Picnic Tea teacupsThese sweet rose covered teacups hang neatly next to a patinaed tea set – love this set gifted to me by my eldest daughter.

Summer Picnic Tea settingBehind the tea setting and the bench is to me a perfect summer combination of flowers – daisies, purple coneflower, blackeye susan and daylilies – I can see them from my bedroom windows and they delight me each day.

Summer Picnic TeaOn the rose covered quilt I placed a picnic basket and a serving tray ready for the picnic.

Some may want cold tea instead of hot tea – I am ready for them with these lovely pink goblets. I love the fragrance of roses and lavender combined – my garden is filled with this combination – along with the Magnolia tree and the Gardenias – love the fragrance of summer.

Summer Picnic Tea sideviewI moved tha Adirondak bench to use a seating – I could add the ones on the front porch, if need be – or guests could recline on the quilt with a pillow or two for comfort.

Dearest loves vintage radios – the ones he has do work and it is fun to use them.

Summer Picnic Tea basket silver overviewMore rose covered dishes and rose covered silverware – I love how dishes and silverware are so beautiful – pieces of artwork themselves.

Summer Picnic Tea covered dishOn the bed tray I placed another covered dish and a sweet bowl – for fruit.
