Keep On Praying

In this instant world we live in today, we can get so many things quickly. We can get information, we can buy things, we can call anyone or text them and be instantly in contact.

In this world it seems we can have all our answers within seconds. Yet, we seem to be come impatient when we pray and answers don’t come right away.

I wonder then, are we giving as much time to prayer? Do we see it as important in our lives?

Why is Prayer Important?

It is important in our worship of God

“In worship, to address the Supreme Being with solemnity and reverence, with adoration, confession of sins, supplication for mercy, and thanksgiving for blessings received.”

It is important for us to pause in the busyness of our lives to acknowledge the ONE who loves us and gives us this life. We need to open our hearts and minds to see those things that are truly important.

Sing to the LORD, all the earth; proclaim his salvation day after day.  Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples. For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods.  For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the LORD made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy are in his dwelling place.  Ascribe to the LORD, all you families of nations, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.  Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering and come before him. Worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness. Tremble before him, all the earth! The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved.  Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let them say among the nations, “The LORD reigns!” I Chronicles 16:23-31

We pray to God to petition those things we need.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6

To Ask with Earnestness on Someone’s Behalf

The Bible speaks much about our praying for others, especially for those who we might consider enemies or who despise us. We’re to pray for all.

“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people,” I Timothy 2:1

To Simply Commune with God

God is our Father. He is our advocate. He is the one who loves us. Prayer is simply a way to talk with Him. It is a way to bring our hearts and minds centered on what’s most important. Prayer comforts us. Prayer strengthens us. Prayer places our concerns and worries in the most capable hands of God. And prayer brings peace and joy to our hearts.

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” Romans 12:12
