The Moments that Count

Tremendous change or things of importance often begin by one single moment. We can make changes in our lives, big changes, by one single decision. Our busy lives can swirl around us, but a single moment in our day can make such a big difference.

There’s a movie we enjoy watching, ‘Mr. Magorioum’s Wonder Emporium’. It is about a magical man and a magical toy store. This man is always optimistic. I particularly love a quote from him. He and his assistant are in a clock store. They’ve set every clock to chime at 12 noon. They have thirty-seven seconds to wait until they all chime. His assistant says, now all we have to do is wait’. It’s Mr. Magorium’s reply that I love.

“No. We Breathe. We Pulse. We Regenerate. Our hearts beat. Our minds create. Our souls ingest. Thirty-seven seconds, well used, is a lifetime.”

Time Is Important and how we spend our time…

Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.” Colossians 3:5-6

Because others are important.

“I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.” John 17:4

Jesus accomplished what he came to do. We all are important because we all have something we are here to do – whether it be something big or small.

We all have something important to accomplish.

“Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.” James 4:14

Today is the day we know we have – putting off tasks is not wise, we have no guarantee of tomorrow.

“See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” Ephesians 5:15-16

Be wise in your choices in your days – make the best use of your time!

“(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)” II Corinthians 6:2

Now is the time to do good toward someone else. Today is the day to make a difference in someone’s life.

“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” Micah 6:8

Another Thought on Carpe Diem

A life well lived can be one where we appreciate the moments knowing that if we live rightly, kindly and mercifully toward others and live humbly before our God – even thirty-seven seconds in our life can be of great importance.

The phrase ‘carpe diem’ – seize the day can or ‘pluck the day’ means more when you realize you can apply it to living a full life; filling every moment you can to do good for others and to serve God with all that is within your power.

“No. We Breathe. We Pulse. We Regenerate. Our hearts beat. Our minds create. Our souls ingest. Thirty-seven seconds, well used, is a lifetime.”

Make the most of this day! Live today joyfully with purpose loving God and loving others.

“Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.” I John 4:7-12
