God Wants us to be Joyful

Today is Christmas Eve. It is a special day worldwide…the day before we celebrate the birth of Christ – God’s greatest gift to Mankind. The joy of this is that Jesus chose to be born, we celebrate this. But, we should also celebrate that He chose to die for us…the free gift of Salvation…becoming the payment for sin. God not only wants us to experience salvation joy, but also joy throughout our life.

Not only Joy, but also Laughter

Joy is defined as ‘a great feeling of pleasure and happiness.‘ This is a big part of our relationship with God. Just knowing that he loves us brings us deep and lasting joy…At times however, God causes such joy…that includes laughter.

“And Sarah said, “God has made me laugh, and all who hear will laugh with me.” Genesis 21:6

When Sarah believed that she was beyond childbearing and then found out she was going to have a son…she laughed – with joy! She wished that all who heard her rejoicing would join in with her.

Laughter Can Make Difficult Times Better

When the Lord brought back the captivity of Zion, We were like those who dream. Then our mouth was filled with laughter, And our tongue with singing. Then they said among the nations,

The Lord has done great things for them.” The Lord has done great things for us, And we are glad. Bring back our captivity, O Lord, As the streams in the South. Those who sow in tearsShall reap in joy. He who continually goes forth weeping, Bearing seed for sowing, Shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, Bringing his sheaves with him.” Psalm 126

We have experienced moments in our life when things seem difficult…we realize there’s nothing we can do about it, we might as well look for the best in the situation and laugh.

Each Day is a Gift

“This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24

When I wake in the mornings, I try to remember, today is a gift to open – full of promise. No matter what happens in the day, I want to be thankful and to experience joy. Having several moments of laughter sprinkled within makes the day all the more better.

Joy and laughter, they’re made to go together and laughter is the best medicine in the world for all situations.
