Love so Amazing…

“The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save.  He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.”  Zephaniah 3:17

As we begin this week, if you’re like me, you may be bombarded by thoughts of: These are the things I need to do this week? This….happened to me this week, now what will I do? This person treated me badly setting my day off all wrong! I can’t believe I did that and missed that opportunity! Another….broke and now we have to replace it! What else? The diagnosis isn’t good…what do we do now? I’ve lost my favorite….what did I do with it?

O.K., I thought of some very strong events that could occur and do occur in our life. We’re faced each day with those daily tasks we must do, those plans we make and those people that we encounter and/or need to encounter on a daily-weekly basis. Our flesh battles our Spirit and Satan takes advantage of every opportunity to undermine our relationship with God and to discourage us.

We just can’t let all those ‘weeds’ in our lives take root! We must begin each week by spending time with God to nourish our soul and our spirit!

I think, the first thing we need to do is to remind ourselves of a ‘Love so Amazing’. When we meditate on that knowledge – of the many layers of God’s love toward us…that becomes our nourishment, our shield, our foundation, our hope and our joy.

“How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!”  1 John 3:1

The love God has toward is is just so amazing! To think and to comprehend that God – the maker of all things – loves us…each one of us individually.

God’s Love Is:

  • perfect “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment.  The one who fears is not made perfect in love.  We love because He first loved us.”  1 John 4:18-19
  • faithful “But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.”  Psalm 86:15
  • unconditional “‘Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,’ says the Lord, who has compassion on you.”  Isaiah 54:10
  • forgiving “But you are a forgiving God, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love…” Nehemiah 9:17
  • all-encompassing “Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.”  Psalm 107:8-9
  • pure “The words of the LORD are pure words; As silver tried in a furnace on the earth, refined seven times.” Psalm 12:6
  • lasting “Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies.  Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the great deep.”  Psalm 36:5-6
  • sacrificial “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”  John 3:16
  • strong The Lord is my Rock and my Fortress and my Deliverer. My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. Psalms 18:2
  • enduring “So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”  1 Corinthians 13:13
  • refreshing “Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.” Psalm 63:3
  • redeeming “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Rom. 5:8
  • everlasting “I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you established your faithfulness in heaven itself.”  Psalm 89:2
  • lavish “His banner over me is love.”  Song of Songs 2:4
  • full “The earth is filled with your love, O Lord…”  Psalm 119:64
  • inspiring “In all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.  For I am convinced that neither death or life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  Romans 8:37-39
  • hope-filled “Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death…Many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot wash it away.”  Song of Songs 8:6-7
  • gracious “And rend your heart and not your garments ” Now return to the LORD your God, For He is gracious and compassionate, Slow to anger, abounding in lovingkindness And relenting of evil.” Joel 2:13

God’s love is not based on how much we love Him. It is not based on how much we do for Him. It is not based on our following His word exactly…God’s love is based on His will and His character.

God knows our needs, what we will face this coming week and what can discourage us. What He has promised is that He will be with us…He will carry us through and beautifully – He will love us always. Not only this, but He will also love others through us.

“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.   Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”  1 John 4:7-8

So, this week know that you are deeply loved more than you can comprehend. Know that you are always in God’s heart and mind. Know that you’re not alone. Never. Love so amazing…comes from the originator of love itself. Remember these things – meditate on these things – encourage yourself with these things and go forth to do the best you can this week – for Him.
