I am preparing a family dinner to celebrate my eldest daughter’s birthday. The glorious spring colors are adding the perfect inspiration for this tablescape. Pansies are beautiful as decorations around the birthday cake and are also edible. They’re beautiful edibles! I made her favorite cake – Chocolate Cake. This cake is from The Cake Doctor cookbook. It is the ‘Ever So Moist Chocolate Cake’. I share more about this cake and the recipe here.
I began by using a recently purchased tablecloth I was excited to find. The vibrant spring flowers are reflected in this marvelous tablecloth I found. I love the gorgeous colors and rose pattern. Do you recognize it?
If you guessed that it is patterned after the Royal Albert Country Rose china pattern, you would be correct! Doesn’t it make a lovely tablecloth! Have you ever started a table scape that developed
as you went? As I brought in the beautiful spring flowers, combined with the yellows and deep pinks of the roses in the tablecloth – the basis for this tablescape began to form. This table makes me think of a spring symphony of color. The china I chose to use complemented the colors: Mary Kay Pink china and some of my very favorite dishes by Homer Laughlin. I love just about every dish I’ve seen created by Homer Laughlin! Pink napkins, glassware and silverware add to the lovely settings.
One of my very favorite flowers from winter to spring is the Helleboros. This is such a gorgeous flower that can grow about anywhere. I love that in the depth of winter here – we have these exquisite blooms!
The Redbud flowers and the Forsythia blooms almost perfectly match the deep pink and yellow of the rose pattern on the tablecloth!
The dinner is all set and ready on the buffet for the family to gather to celebrate our daughter’s birthday. Now that they’re all growing and moving on with their own lives, it’s so wonderful when we can get back together and to enjoy special occasions such as this! I am so delighted now to enjoy our children as young adults – each stage of their lives has been precious. We have been able to thoroughly enjoy our children and look forward some day to expand this love – through grand-children!
The cake – beautifully decorated, just like the tablescape. I filled the top with shavings of dark and white chocolate. We cannot have too much chocolate, can we!
