Home and Garden Thursday
This week has been one of awaited anticipations…flops-which we’ll find a way to fix… and unplanned experiences…when you see this, I’ll be with Dearest. He’s whisking me away for the day to the Georgia State Fair…‘our State Fair is a great State Fair…don’t miss it, don’t even delay’.
Familiar with that tune…well it’s playing in my mind as I type.
I have been holding out on you.
There’s a MARVELOUS find Dearest bought me a few months back. I’d been holding off because, Thrifty Me wanted to buy mattresses on sale and there’s one the first of October…gave part of it away…it’s a bed. Not just a bed an antique IRON bed. Well. Happy Me went shopping early Monday morning, picked up the mattress SET, some fabric and cool ribbons for Christmas…
Dearest and I set up the bed, brought up the mattress and boxspring upstairs and the mattress sits SO HIGH that it brought to mind images of ‘The Princess and the Pea‘. Well, Dearest kindly restrained himself from negative comments. We have this thing. When something doesn’t work out or a disaster happens – we try to see the bright side of it and laugh.‘Always look on the bright side of life…always look on the light side of life’…
With all that said, you’ll have to wait for pictures.
Because I’m at the State Fair!
Here’s what I did share earlier:
Dearest and I spent a Saturday visiting Garage and Estate Sales. I scored these fantastic dishes for less than $5! I also shared the many wonderful things we found together.
When we moved to our house there were these Perennials that were to Dearest looking more like weeds than anything else. The lesson to know when first moving into a new home – wait 1 year before changing the landscape – you need to know what you have…as it turned out these ‘weeds’ are Mexican Sage - they grace the front sidewalk and blow as cars pass by and attract butterflies and bees. They also make wonderful flower arrangements. It pays to wait…
Autumn to me means warm and cozy dishes that include fragrant spices such as cinnamon and ginger…I made Gingerbread, topped it with sauteed apples and drizzled warm crabapple jelly… deliciously fragrant and satisfying.
