Mother’s Day Gift Idea – Gardener’s Homemade Hand Scrub
As soon as the weather gets warm enough, I love to get my hands in the dirt. I do try to use my gloves, but sometimes nothing beats digging in or picking up with your hands and fingers.
It can be awefully harsh on your hands!
I have found a very easy, lovely recipe for a Gardener’s Homemade Hand Scrub that could be a perfect Mother’s Day gift!
These three ingredients come together
to make a marvelous, cleansing and softening scrub for gardeners.
Stir the ingredients.
You can add additional sugar for a more paste-like scrub.
Decorate your jar with ribbon, jute twine or like I did a chalkboard label. This would definitely make a wonderful Mother’s Day gift!
- Dawn Dish Detergent with Oil Of Olay (pink-I'm using the fragrant Pomegranate Splash)
- Olive Oil
- You can use canning jars or ones like mine. Fill the jar approximately 3/4 full with white sugar. Add the Dawn Oil of Olay Dish Soap filling just to below the rim of the mouth of the jar. Gently stir gradually adding the Olive Oil. You can use between two teaspoons and one tablespoon of the olive oil to the sugar/soap mixture. Add additional sugar to create a paste consistency. Decorate the jar and give as a gift or use yourself
- I've noticed that this recipe can separate - you'll just need to stir it a couple times and I do recommend going to paste form - with more sugar - in my large jar that was the equivalent of 2 cups. Also, I believe because of the addition of the oil, the soap combination this can form a foam on top - it's actually quite lovely, and creamy - but if you don't want it for your finished product, just skim it off - set it aside in another container - it works just as well as the scrub.
