Home and Garden Thursday

“Whilst August yet wears her golden crown,
Ripening fields lush- bright with promise;
Summer waxes long, then wanes, quietly passing
Her fading green glory on to riotous Autumn.”
– Michelle L. Thieme, August’s Crown

August – the last few days of summer are upon us. Here in Georgia summer has been quite mild with more rain than usual. I have loved the cool mornings. I see signs of autumn. Yesterday the air was heavy with fog and I noticed the wildly growing Sweet Autumn Clematis in bloom. I’m treasuring these passing moments that will soon be but a memory. My two favorite seasons are spring and autumn for their coolness and color. I am so glad to be able to enjoy this summer – without too much heat and humidity. How is it in your corner of the world? I am so delighted when you all share your talents with Home and Garden Thursday.

Here’s what I shared with you since our last party:

Blueberry Peach Pound CakeHave you ever just wanted something sweet? My daughter and I did last week, we also had an abundance of fresh summer fruit…I made this Blueberry Peach Pound Cake

chair and stand and hutchI found this and a matching chair at The Habitat Restore. I knew they’d be perfect side chairs to sit alongside my new china cabinet. I changed the rest of the dining room chairs as well – painting the red chairs to blue. Also, Bloggers with Haven have partnered with Habitat for Humanity in ‘Hands of Haven’  to contribute in building and donations. It’s a marvelous collaboration!

  3. Hi Kathy,

    Your blueberry peach pound cake looks and sounds scrumptious and all the fabulous changes you’ve made to your dining room are very inspirational and pretty! Trying to catch up on my visits as hosting little gatherings by the pool have kept me busier than usual, and away from blogland! Thanks for hosting and have a wonderful week!

  5. Oh Kathy….summer is fading away, way too fast for me. I can’t get enough. And after last winter, well, it’s hard to get excited for another 6 months of leafless trees and that four-letter word…snow. Alas….we can look forward to the beauties of fall and how every tree in color proclaims the glories of the Lord, can’t we?

    Hope your week is filled with extraordinary moments!

  6. Thank you so much for hosting such a fun party with great features. Always fun!

  12. Good evening, Kathy. Thank you so much for hosting the blog party. Our weather has been a blessing of late – rain showers in the foothills and mountains without very much lightening. It’s helping the fight against several wildfires we have going right now. Plus, after last week’s 107 degree heat, the respite has been welcome! But, unfortunately this next few days will probably put us back to the century mark again. 🙁
    Have a wonderful Thursday and enjoy your weekend!

  13. Kathy, thanks for a great party.

  19. Kathy, fall is my favorite season and I am so looking forward to it but not so much the marking of the end of summer this year. We have had so much rain though maybe fall will bring less humidity and some sunshine. Making the most of this time with quick little excursions with the grandkids and time spent before school starts and makes it almost impossible. Thank you so much for hosting each week and have a wonderful weekend. Cathy

  20. Hi Kathy!
