Delightsome Life Tea

the blog:

One of my favorite fragrances and spices to use is cinnamon.

A Delightsome Life The Charm of Simple Things Tea

When baking, the fragrance of cinnamon fills the home with a welcoming aroma – especially in those cool, crisp autumn and winter days. Today I’m celebrating this spice and fragrance by enjoying Sweet Cinnamon Scones for Teatime and the Charm of Simple Things.

‘Beauty lies in quiet things and they are everywhere. But we may fail to find them unless we pause for prayer’ June Masters Bacher

It is a cool, cloudy day – it feels like fall.

This is a beautiful way to start the week!

“I have come to realize that the radiance of the rose and the whiteness of the lily do not take away the fragrance of the little violet or the delightful simplicity of the daisy. Perfection consists in being what God wants us to be’. Therese

It’s a quiet day, perhaps there’ll be rain today.

There are a few things I hope to accomplish.

‘When we forget the obvious, the little joys, the meals together, the birthday celebrations, the weeping together in time of pain, the wonder of the sunset or the daffodil peeping through the snow, we become less human. Madeleine L’Engle

It will be a gentle day. It will be a beautiful day.

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 6 tablespoons cold butter
  • 3/4 cup cream
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. In a medium sized bowl measure out the flour, baking powder, salt, brown sugar and sugar. Whisk together thoroughly. Cut the butter into cubes and incorporate into dry ingredients with a pastry blender until the butter is just smaller than a pea. In a small bowl combine the cream with egg. Add the cream-egg mixture to the flour mixture. This will be a wet batter. Turn over onto a floured board and knead folding over three to five times. Transfer the whole of the batter to a parchment lined baking sheet. Press the dough into a rectangle and with a floured knife cut into squares or triangles. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 15 minutes. Serve warm.
