homemade whipped body butter

Rich, creamy – this homemade whipped body butter will keep your skin beautifully moisturized. The ingredients are blended together by whipping. Keep some for yourself and give some as a gift. You’ll love it!
whipped Body Butter 3I love making homemade gifts. As part of our Christmas party, we play a ‘Left – Right Game’. I prepare bagged gifts and we space them out between our guests who are standing in a somewhat circle.

Dearest reads the ‘Left – Right Story‘. Each time he reads the words left or right the guests pass the packages accordingly. There’s lots of laughter and everyone is attempting to pay close attention…it moves swiftly! At the end, whoever is holding a bag wins the gift. This year I had two gift themes – pampering and good morning.

In the pampering I made homemade bath salts – the recipe I shared earlier. Some of my homemade soaps and this, Body Butter. It is fun to make and fascinating to see this butter ‘whip up’! The cocoa-butter lends a strong fragrance, so I did not include a fragrance.

health and beauty recipe

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Shea Butter
  • 1/2 cup Cocoa Butter
  • 1/2 cup Coconut Oil
  • 1/2 cup light Olive Oil you may also use almond or jojoba
  • Essential Oil - 2 to 3 drops optional

Instructions

  1. Place the butters and oils in the toil of a double boiler or a bowl set over a pot with water. Bring to a medium heat and stir constantly until the butters are melted. Remove from heat and allow to sit to begin to cool. Cover and place in the refrigerator to allow to almost completely cool. The mixture will begin to reharden from the edges. I would take the mixture and with an hand blender or hand mixture 'whip' to begin to blend. Return to refrigerator and repeat this process until mixture fully incorporates. Bring out from the fridge - the cocoa butter will cause this to harden somewhat - allow to soften and whip once agail with stick blender or hand mixer until light and fluffy. Place butter in glass or plastic jar with lid. Keep cool.

Recipe Notes

most of these ingredients can be bought at the grocery store - cocoa butter -100% cocoa butter sticks; light olive oil; coconut oil. Shea Butter can be ordered from soap making supply companies - I use www.brambleberry.com for my soap making supplies.
