Painted Nursery Furniture
There’s a sweet joy in knowing that I’m going to be a Grandma. There’s also a sweet joy in knowing that my daughter is about to be a Mother. And she’s going to have a little girl.
She is planning and preparing for our new arrival. The nursery is almost ready. She had been looking for a perfect dresser to complement the room’s decor color palette. When she found it, it wasn’t any where near the right color.
Then she asked me if I would paint it for her…insert giggle here. First of all. I’m happy to do anything for her and for my soon coming Granddaughter. Secondly, I love painting furniture – especially sweet painted nursery furniture! So…of course, I’ll paint it!
The room is white with a wonderful handmade barn door for the closet (made by my Son-in-Law). The decor is floral…a design from Target. She’s looking at a rocking recliner to add to the room and it’s a medium gray. So, what color should I paint this Highboy.
She Decided on a Soft Gray
And I had the perfect, soft shade of gray in mind. I’ve used it before and love the results. Chalk paint is such a wonderful paint, Amy Howard at Home has so many wonderful shades to select from! I selected Chelsea Square. I think this is becoming one of my favorite colors! She also had me paint the drawer handles an antique gold to complement the curtain hardware.
My Son-in-Law is so very talented! He began his custom-furniture business, 135 Custom Furniture not too long ago and has become very successful. He makes so very many things from ladders, chalkboards, trays, custom-furniture and more! He’s so excited about his baby girl, she has inspired him already!
Barn Door, Bookshelf and more…
Did I say my Son-in-Law has been inspired…well, here’s what he’s done – these shallow bookshelves by the door, the gorgeous barn door and that shelf above the baby crib. He’s made the shelf above the crib to accommodate a camera so they can keep an eye on her. All he needs is an idea! Plus, my daughter had this beautiful vision for the nursery…
The Crib and the Changing Table
They selected to keep the baby crib and changing table as they were, which I think is perfect. This is not a matchy-matchy design. I love the mixture of furniture and accessories – it makes it unique for them!
My daughter got together with her sister and created this beautiful, large wreath! You know I love wreaths and these girls did a fantastic job! LOVE the large R in the center! This complements beautifully the color palette.
The Area Rug
My daughter shared with me that she was looking for a pretty area rug for the nursery. I knew of a few resources. One is Rugs USA – they have such a wide variety and at great prices…well, that’s exactly where she found her perfect rug! It goes so well with the bedding, the wreath – the whole color palette!
Dresser and Tabletop Decor
We played around with some of the pretty girly things she’s collected and received through baby showers. I love all of these bows! I can’t wait to see her all dressed up with a pretty bow in her hair! One of her Sister-in-Laws had that lovely sign made on the marble – it’s just too sweet and perfect.
Tea time and reading books with our Granddaughter. I know Dearest and I are really looking forward to spending sweet time with our little Granddaughter.
Sweet and Cuddly
No nursery would be complete without a few soft, cuddly friends for our sweet little girl. I adore these three and can just imagine her hugging them – or falling asleep with them nearby.
Little Blessing and Miracle
All babies are blessings and miracles. I am so delighted for my daughter and Son-in-Law. I know they’ll make wonderful parents and look forward to seeing their family grow. I am so delighted to have been able to help in adding to this lovely baby nursery. I hope you’ve been inspired and have come away with some ideas for your own. What’s your favorite part of the nursery? Mine…the sweet baby that will thoroughly enjoy each and everything here!
